A complete banking platform hosted, maintained, and updated by us - so your team can focus on lending, not infrastructure. From $249/month. Same transparent price regardless of your industry or country.
Who it's for
Kovara is built for every kind of financial institution. Whether you have 50 borrowers or 50,000 members - one platform covers everything.
Replace spreadsheets with a professional platform. Track every loan, automate reminders, and generate investor-ready reports.
Fully compliant, self-hosted platform with audit trails, data residency controls, and regulator-ready reporting.
Member management, share capital, group loans, and dividend calculations - all in one system your team actually enjoys using.
A core banking backbone built for smaller institutions - with double-entry accounting, maker-checker controls, and full white labeling.
Issue and manage SME and commercial loans with KYC checks, credit bureau pulls, collateral tracking, and automated repayment collection.
JLG, solidarity groups, and village banking with joint liability tracking, attendance, collection sheets, and credit committee reviews.
Private Lenders
If you're tracking loans in spreadsheets, chasing repayments manually, or losing visibility as your portfolio grows - Kovara gives you a proper platform without the six-figure setup cost or the 12-month implementation timeline.
Get started →Portfolio visibility
Every active loan, overdue account, and upcoming repayment on one dashboard.
Automated reminders
SMS and email reminders sent automatically before and after due dates.
Borrower portal
Borrowers log in to check balances, schedules, and documents - fewer support calls.
Investor-ready reports
Portfolio performance reports in seconds - for investors, auditors, or your records.
Regulatory compliance
Audit trails, data residency controls, and regulator-ready reports built in.
Multi-branch operations
Manage every branch from one instance. Consolidated reporting across your network.
Maker-checker workflows
Four-eyes approval on disbursements and high-risk actions - required by most regulators.
KYC & credit bureau
Connect your regional provider. Run checks directly from the loan application screen.
Microfinance Banks & MFIs
Licensed MFIs need more than loan tracking - they need audit trails, data residency, and controls that satisfy regulators. Kovara is built self-hosted by default, so borrower data never leaves your infrastructure.
Get started →SACCOs & Cooperatives
SACCOs run on trust. Kovara gives your members a self-service portal where they can see their share balance, loan status, and transaction history - while your team manages the full cooperative lifecycle in one place.
Get started →Share & savings tracking
Full share capital ledger, savings accounts, and dividend calculations - automated at year end.
Group & solidarity loans
Create group loans, track individual obligations, and manage joint liability schedules.
Member self-service
Members view balances, apply for loans, and download statements - no staff required.
AGM & meeting tools
Track attendance, record resolutions, and produce minutes for your annual general meeting.
White labeling
Your logo, your colors, your domain. Members see your brand - not Kovara's.
Double-entry accounting
Every transaction posts to the general ledger automatically. No reconciliation headaches.
Teller & cash management
Daily teller sessions, cash drawer reconciliation, and vault transfers - all logged and auditable.
Fixed deposit products
Offer term deposits with custom tenors, interest rates, and automatic maturity handling.
Community Banks
Community banks need serious infrastructure without the enterprise overhead. Kovara gives you double-entry accounting, full white labeling, and maker-checker controls out of the box - self-hosted on your own server, at a price that makes sense for your size.
Get started →SME Lenders
SME lending is more complex than consumer loans - larger amounts, collateral, business KYC, and longer tenors. Kovara handles the full commercial loan lifecycle from application through collections, with the controls and documentation commercial borrowers expect.
Get started →Collateral tracking
Log assets, valuations, and ownership documents. Link collateral directly to loan records.
Guarantor management
Attach guarantors to commercial loans with their own profiles, obligations, and document trail.
Business loan structures
Term loans, revolving credit, and overdraft facilities - with custom repayment schedules per product.
Automated collections
Repayment reminders, mobile money pull payments, and overdue escalations - automated.
Loan cycle management
Run sequential lending cycles - each new cycle unlocks based on repayment performance of the last.
Attendance tracking
Record meeting attendance digitally. Attendance history tied to creditworthiness scoring.
Collection sheets
Print or display digital collection sheets for field officers. Payments posted instantly on sync.
Credit committee
Group loan applications go through a structured review and approval workflow before disbursement.
Village & Group Lenders
JLG and village banking is a different discipline - attendance registers, group liability, collection sheets, and credit committee sign-off. Kovara was designed with group lending as a first-class feature, not an afterthought bolted on to an individual loan system.
Get started →Everything included
From loan origination to mobile money collections - everything your institution needs, at one flat price.
Full lifecycle from application to closure. Flat and declining balance, multi-tranche disbursement, rescheduling, collateral, guarantors, write-offs, and automated repayment schedules.
Savings accounts, fixed deposits, recurring deposits, and SACCO share capital all in one system. Automated interest accrual, maturity handling, and standing instructions.
Every transaction automatically posts to the general ledger. Chart of accounts, journal entries, trial balance, income statement, and balance sheet - no external accounting software needed.

Us vs them
Thinking about switching? We've done the research so you don't have to. Pick your platform for a full head-to-head breakdown.
Cloud-only, enterprise pricing, no group lending, no SACCO support. Strong AI decisioning - but not for your market.
See comparison →Java-based, quote-only pricing, no savings products, no cooperative model. Good workflow engine - but no MFI DNA.
See comparison →Per-account pricing that explodes as you grow. Cloud-only, no self-hosting, no data sovereignty. Built for neobanks, not cooperatives.
See comparison →$1M-20M+ to implement. 18-36 month deployments. Built for commercial banks - not for your institution or your budget.
See comparison →Free to download, expensive to run. No managed hosting, no support, constant IT overhead. The "free" option that costs a fortune.
See comparison →India-first NBFC design. No group lending, no savings passbook, no cooperative model. Requires full ERPNext stack to operate.
See comparison →Per-loan-account fees that scale against you. No origination, no savings, no group lending. US-only integrations. Needs 3-5 extra vendors to match Kovara.
See comparison →Decent MFI coverage but cloud-only, outdated UI, slow to evolve. Kovara ships faster and gives you full data ownership.
See comparison →Don't see your current platform? Email us and we'll add it.

With Kovara, your institution saves
over 3 years compared to the cheapest commercial alternative
Based on published pricing where available, and estimated pricing from industry reports for platforms that hide their costs. Kovara pricing is from our published tiers. Actual costs may vary.
Your data. Your region. Fully managed.
Most core banking platforms force you into their cloud - in their jurisdiction, under their control, subject to their policies. Kovara Cloud works differently: we host your instance in your region, under the data protection laws that apply to your institution. For Institutional customers whose regulators require on-premises deployment, Kovara supports self-hosting on your infrastructure.
Regional hosting matches your regulator. We run your instance in the AWS region closest to you - South Africa, Frankfurt, São Paulo, Mumbai, Singapore, Canada Central - so data residency rules are met automatically.
We handle security patching, backups, uptime monitoring, scaling, and updates. Your team stays focused on lending - not on DevOps rotations.
Deploy to your own infrastructure when your regulator requires it. AWS, Azure, GCP, Safaricom Cloud, Liquid Telecom, your own data center - anywhere Docker runs.
Full data export at any time. Source code available to customers under NDA. Open-source Community Edition guarantees continuity if Kovara ever goes away.

Zero-friction migration
We're building a migration tool that imports your existing data directly into Kovara - no data loss, no manual re-entry, no consultants required.

Borrowers, loans, repayment history - everything moves over. Nothing gets left behind.
We do the heavy lifting.
No IT team required. We guide you through the migration from start to finish.
Live before end of day.
Not weeks of implementation. Not months of training. Your team is operational in hours.

Why Kovara Cloud is the default
Running a banking platform requires constant attention: security patches, database tuning, backup verification, uptime monitoring, performance scaling, compliance hardening. Most institutions don't have - and shouldn't need - a DevOps team to run core banking software.
That's why Kovara Cloud is the default. We manage the infrastructure so you manage the institution. Your data stays logically isolated, fully encrypted, backed up across multiple regions, and available 24/7.
Self-hosting remains available for Institutional customers whose regulatory environment requires on-premises deployment (licensed banks, specific Shariah compliance contexts, central-bank-mandated jurisdictions). It's not the default because for 95% of institutions, managed hosting is the right answer - it's cheaper, faster to deploy, more secure, and produces fewer headaches.
"Your software bill shouldn't grow faster than your loan book."
Every competitor charges per-loan or per-account. Add 1,000 borrowers on Mambu and your bill jumps $400-800/month. Add 1,000 borrowers on Kovara and your bill stays exactly the same. Same price across Starter, whether you have 10 accounts or 1,000. The value of scale belongs to you, not your software vendor.
"Fully managed means focus on lending, not on infrastructure."
Core banking platforms from the enterprise era require dedicated DevOps teams, security specialists, database administrators, and backup operators. Kovara Cloud eliminates all of that. We handle the infrastructure - you handle your institution. Your team stays small and focused.
"One price. Every industry. Every country."
Whether you're lending to SACCO members in Kenya, financing boda-bodas in Uganda, offering agricultural loans in Brazil, running a healthcare finance operation in the Philippines, or operating a community bank in Canada - it's the same three tiers, the same prices, the same platform. We don't invent industry-specific SKUs to capture more revenue from you.

Frequently asked
An active account is any borrower, saver, member, or customer account with activity in the last 90 days - loans in repayment, savings with balances, shares being held, ongoing memberships. Closed accounts, written-off loans, and dormant members don't count against your tier.
We'll notify you well before you hit the ceiling. You can upgrade at any time, mid-month, and we'll prorate the difference. No surprise invoices, no overage charges, no automatic upgrades without your approval.
No. Never. This is the reason most of our customers choose Kovara over platforms like Mambu or LoanPro. Your price is your price - you can grow your portfolio 10× without your software bill growing at all.
On Starter and Professional, your Kovara environment runs on Kovara Cloud in a region matched to your jurisdiction - AWS Cape Town for African customers, AWS Frankfurt for European, AWS São Paulo for Latin American, AWS Mumbai for South Asian, AWS Singapore for SEA, AWS Canada Central for North American. Your data stays in the region you operate in, satisfying POPIA, GDPR, LGPD, DPDPA, Kenya DPA, Nigeria NDPR, and other data residency regulations.
On Institutional, you can choose self-hosting on your own infrastructure (your data center, your cloud account, your jurisdiction) if your regulatory environment requires it.
No. Self-hosting is an Institutional tier feature. The reason is practical: running production banking software securely requires ongoing infrastructure expertise, security patching, backup management, and monitoring that doesn't make sense at smaller scales. Kovara Cloud is faster to deploy, better secured, and more cost-effective for institutions under 10,000 accounts.
If you specifically need self-hosting for regulatory reasons at a smaller scale, contact us - we'll evaluate the fit for Institutional tier regardless of account count.
Self-hosting adds real operational cost on our side: bespoke support for different infrastructure stacks, on-premises debugging, installation assistance, version compatibility across deployments. That work is genuinely valuable for institutions that need it (licensed banks, sovereign-compliance contexts) but it adds overhead that wouldn't be fair to bake into Starter pricing. By keeping self-hosting at Institutional tier, we give managed-hosting customers a cleaner, more focused experience while offering the sovereignty option for institutions that truly require it.
On Starter and Professional, infrastructure is included in your monthly fee - no additional server costs, no hosting bills, no infrastructure surprises.
On Institutional with Kovara Cloud, dedicated infrastructure is also included.
On Institutional with self-hosting, you provide and manage your own infrastructure. Typical costs: $100-500/month on AWS, Azure, GCP, or regional providers, depending on your scale and region.
No. Starter and Professional are fully self-serve - email hello@kovara.io and you're live the same day. Institutional involves a short scoping conversation because we include migration, training, and potentially self-hosting support.
Card, bank transfer, M-Pesa, Stripe-supported methods. For Institutional customers we also accept invoicing on 30-day terms.
Any time, any direction. Upgrade mid-month and we'll prorate. Downgrade and the new rate applies on your next billing cycle. Moving from Kovara Cloud to self-hosting (when upgrading to Institutional) involves a migration we handle for you.
Professional and Institutional tiers include migration support - we import your borrowers, loans, savings balances, and repayment history directly into Kovara. Starter customers can migrate themselves using our import tools or pay for migration as a one-time service.
Yes - 30 days on any tier, no card required, full platform access. If you're migrating from another system, we'll extend the trial until your migration is complete.
Your Kovara instance remains operational for 30 days (read-only after day 14). After that we suspend access but preserve your data for 90 more days so you can export everything - borrower records, loan history, accounting ledger, documents. No data is ever held hostage.
If Kovara ever ceases operations, every customer receives:
This is contractually guaranteed on Professional and Institutional tiers.
Yes. Kovara source code is available for review by customers on Professional and Institutional tiers under NDA. Your security team, regulator, and auditors can all inspect the code as part of their evaluation or ongoing monitoring.
Every country we support ships with a compliance pack that includes the specific regulatory reports required in that jurisdiction - SASRA reports for Kenyan SACCOs, CBN reports for Nigerian MFIs, SBP reports for Pakistan, BSP reports for Philippines, RBI reports for Indian NBFCs, and many more. Institutional tier customers can also request custom regulatory reports built to their regulator's exact specifications.
No. Same pricing across every industry. Whether you're running a SACCO in Kenya, an asset finance operation in Nigeria, an agricultural lender in Brazil, a healthcare financing company in Philippines, a BNPL operator in Mexico, or a community bank in Canada - the tiers and prices are the same. Each industry gets its own specialized features (agricultural seasonality, PAYGo IoT integration, group lending, Islamic finance products, etc.) included at no extra cost.
